Start researching similar job titles: public health data analyst and/or Organizational Capacity Analyst or Specialist on Google and on job boards like Monster. Here is one: http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/careercenter-am/message/2369

#2: After reviewing a number of jobs that fall into this class, break them down into their roles and responsibilities. You want to have an itemized, unique list of roles, duties and responsibilities.

#3: Take the time to analyze, research or familiarize yourself with all the keywords used in the job postings. Understand the WHAT, WHY, WHEN and HOW of those keywords.

#4: Go over your experience and your resume and identify every exposure, task, duty or project that you've had along the lines of each of duties you listed. Have a conversation with yourself or with a friend where you recall what you did and why it matters. This is important because at the interview, you have to come up with a quick, convincing and detailed story of what you did and how it ties in to what they are hiring for ... so by doing this amount of detailed exhaustive review you will be prepared.

Your interviewers are looking for evidence that you have the right experience and the right skill set. You have to be prompt, detailed and very very confident in your replies ... Click here for more information on how to ace data analyst interviews ...

#data #analyst #dataanalyst A social statistics / demography background is ideal for data analysis career.

You are however missing a strong relational database and sql querying background.

Finally, learn a tool for data analysis ... any tool will do to start with!

#marketing @survey #programmers #college Take the job at hand and don't wait for the perfect job. Don't be unemployed because you want the perfect job because it may never come until you take the job at hand and do something useful or beneficial to others with it.

1. Yes, go ahead with the job that you are offered even though it is not the perfect job because often times, the perfect job will show up after you get busiy with the imperfect one.

2. Your technical skills are useless without a job and if they were that great, you would be getting offers for them anyway. The folks that have the real technical skills get the techniacl jobs and you are not getting it now because your technical skills are simply not up to par.

3. Your career is what you make out of it. It is more an outcome of how hard you work than the type of job you choose. So, make up your mind to be the best marketing research data analyst out there ... and you will experience all the career growth that you want!
