Here is the Burning Question:

Hello Kingsley,

Have found the ebooks (The Computer Programmers Book – The Street Smart Guide to High Paying Computer Programmer Careers extremely helpful. Still very strongly considering to purchase the it mentoring course that you offer.

I have got a degree in computing and loved software development out of all the units but the courses i found were more towards the beginners to intermediate level. Looking to gain a greater understanding and go onto a deeper level. Looking at a career in the area.

Just a query, i am from Australia and have read a lot of critique over the web of the disadvantages of being a .net developer through the use vb.net as the programming language, but I have found that more jobs require vb.net than C#.

Furthermore as i think you state as well it is more about understanding programming methodologies than just a distinct language. Is that the case? On the other hand there is plenty of positive feedback about vb.net. As i understand much of the stigma has developed from older versions of vb and the inability to compete with other language capabilities. I think vb.net has alleviated much of those fears. Is that a fair assessment ?

One final question, is it a bad thing to continue to learn two different programming languages concurrently, I am in the process of working on both vb.net and C++ as there are different strengths in each of these languages.

Thank you for your time,

Kind Regards

George

Here is my answer to my reader’s question:

Hello George, I understand that you love computer programming. Computer programming is one of those few careers that instantly offers you the option to become a freelance consultant even as a beginner programmer.

As a freelance software developer, you may live in the United States or India or any other country and work for clients coming from all over the world.

The ability to freelance or work as an independent software development consultant for clients located all over the world has is made possible by the Internet and having or possessing cutting-edge programming skills.

The hands-on training that allows you to become an independent software developer is included in the IT Mentorship program.

The other function of the IT Mentorship program includes giving you practical real-world exposure or hands-on experience on software development projects. This hands-on experience may then be traded in for a full-time software developer job if you so prefer.

So, the hands-on experience that allows you to get a full-time software developer position is included in the IT Mentorship program.

However, you need to be fully trained in a particular career before you can participate in the IT Mentorship program because you won’t be able to handle the real-world software development projects given to you by clients without the requisite training … does that make sense?

What I am saying is that you need to either be in or have completed the Business Analyst Boot Camp or the Software Developer Boot Camp before you may be allowed into the IT Mentorship program. Here is the reason why:

The Software Developer Boot Camp is the place where you get the complete hands-on training needed to become a full-fledged software developer. While The IT Mentorship programme is the place where you get intense real-world, hands-on experience which you may turn into a full-fledged freelance independent software consulting career or into a full-time software developer position. However, in the IT Mentorship programmer, we won’t be explaining any software development concepts to you because we assume that you are already fully trained and ready to code. Does that make sense?

The Software Developer Boot Camp or Business Analyst Boot Camp or any of our Boot Camps are very intense and rigorous. That is why they are not designed as a 40 hour or 1 week training event unlike some other training events. For example, the Software Developer Boot Camp is designed as a 24 weeks training event … during which we provide you with an in-depth knowledge, in-demand software development skills and hands-on, practical programming experience.

In the software developer boot camp you are given a suite of software developer practice tests or quizzes which improves your retention, comprehension or recall. These practice tests will help you ace job interviews with potential full-time employers or freelance consulting clients easily. As part of the Software Developer Boot Camp, you are also provided access to Course Instructors who may provide additional coaching or mentoring on any computer programming issues that you need help with. All these assistance is made available to you in the software developer boot camp without paying an extra dime.

The software developer boot camp is also designed to take you from beginner or intermediate programming skills to full-fledged software development skills unlike some of the other courses you have been looking at … which are only good for people who want to learn just the basics of computer programming and then tutor themselves the rest of the way!

I would advise you to ignore the arguments over whether VB.NET is better than C# as a computer programming language. These arguments are distracting or counter productive because, if you learn C# really well, you can pick up on VB.NET with no more than a week of extra study and if you know VB.NET pretty well, you can pick also up on the C# programming language with just about a week of extra study.

In the software developer boot camps, we encourage our software developer trainees to join the SQL Boot Camp at the same time and get trained on both platforms (Microsoft .NET Platform and Microsoft SQL Server) at the same time. It will actually help your career better to focus on learning either C# or VB.NET first and then get a job so that you can start racking up on hands-on experience before you start working on C/C++ … does that make sense?

Finally, I am not sure if you realize it, but under the current promotion, you may add the SQL Boot Camp to your Software Developer Boot Camp training for an extra $50.00. This is important because mastering SQL Database Development will do more for your career right now than learning either the C or C++ programming language.

Please let me know if you have any more questions about your software development career and I would be glad to answer them for you and thank you for ordering (The Computer Programmers Book – The Street Smart Guide to High Paying Computer Programmer Careers
